Darrell Eastlake began his career in radio during the late 1960’s. It was the surfing era and Darrell pioneered Surf reports for Radio 2UW whilst working at his “real job” of making surfboards.

During those years, Darrell gained valuable broadcasting experience and was approached to do similar reports for Radio 4GG in the Gold Coast. During the next seven years in Surfers Paradise he not only co-ordinated and reported the surfwatch and reports, but started the Gold Coast League Show.

He joined NBN-3 Newcastle as a Sportscaster and in 1982 was approached by Channel Nine to join its team for the coverage of the Brisbane Commonwealth Games and Saturday Night Football.

Since then, Darrell has become one of the Nine Network’s most versatile commentators calling everything from rugby league to motor racing, marathons and surf lifesaving.
