Feature Act available for hire, based in Victoria
David Hobson began his operatic career with Victoria State Opera in 1987 in their Young Artists Programme, performing the roles of Rodolfo in La Bohème on the county tour and secondary role in the main season. He also performed Frederick in the company’s production of the Broadway version of The Pirates of Penzance. Roles with other companies at that time included Nadir in The Pearl Fishers for Opera ACT and Nanki-Poo in the Mikado for West Australian Opera. The following year marked his debut with The Australian Opera as Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof, followed by Lawrence in the world premiere of Brian Howard’s Whitsunday. In the same year he was awarded the Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship.
He appears regularly with major opera companies and television.
Engagements in 2000 include Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus for Opear Australia in Sydney and Melbourne, a new production of The Pearl Fishers, also for Opera Australia, and concerts in Melbourne and Sydney with the Australian Pops/Philharmonic Orchestra.
