Two 20-somethings and a piano man stumble their way through life, love, careers and centre-link payments! The sassy, home-grown cabaret show, ‘20-Something’, by The Vox Trust featuring Tamara Shinners, Rachel McCall and Jamie Cock.

20-Something returns after a sold-out season in 2007, and at the Adelaide

Fringe 2008.

Tamara and Rachel have spent a long time trying to find themselves, and in their twenties they realise there is such a thing as the quarter-life-crisis! Souls are bared with this fresh cabaret mix. They weave together original songs with a mix of those from recent off-broadway shows, cabaret classics and a touch of opera.

From the tones of Sondheim and Jason Robert Brown to a worrying rendition of Offenbach’s ‘Barcarolle’, these cheeky performers wade through the common dramas of the twenty-somethings! The satirical homage to Centrelink is a particular highlight, plus a comical spin on the two ‘Jules’ of politics!

The Vox Trust create an intimate setting for this shining act. Jamie Cock feels right at home and provides the accompaniment with some quirky banter to add to the mix.

Reviews of performances at ‘La Boheme’ in August 2007:

“…a ripper show!...Rachel McCall and Tamara Shinners…wowed the crowd. Very eye candy these girls… typical of the fabulous talents erupting from our arts courses.”

Russell Starke, City Messenger.

“McCall and Shinners delivered a feast of cabaret greats based on their travels, poverty and lost loves…Jamie Cock delivered an outstanding performance on piano…The show was proof that Adelaide artists have much to offer…”

Alexandra Parry, Independent Weekly.

Come along to explore your inner quarter-life crisis!
