Todd began dancing at the age of three, training in jazz, tap, acrobatics and ballroom dancing. He has represented Australia in ballroom and Latin American dancing, winning many international dancing titles - perfect experience for his role as Nathan Starkey in Baz Luhrmann's internationally acclaimed film Strictly Ballroom.

Todd was cast in Crazy for You to take over from American lead Jim Walton once his six months contract was up. Just like Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street, in which Todd played Billy Lawlor, he may not have been a star when he went on, but he sure-as-hell was when he came off.

He is also a choreographer. His credits include Tropical Nights at Jupiter's Casino, The Gala Reopening of The Regent Theatre in Melbourne in which he was a featured guest artist, and concert performances of Mack and Mabel and Kismet for Victoria State Opera, in which he also performed.
