Amati Strings is recognised as one of Melbourne's finest string ensembles. Amati offers a unique combination of musical excellence and professional style. The group has enjoyed fifteen years of experience, providing beautiful music for formal functions, weddings, parties and major events – as a quartet, trio or duo.
2006 highlights include:
• Performing on Centre Court at the Australian Open
• Recording with Kate Ceberano
• Performing at the opening of the Pissaro Exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria
• Appearing on the television series’ Star Struck, The X Factor, Dancing with the Stars, Dancing on Ice and It Takes Two
• Recording the sound track for Geoffrey Wright’s latest feature film M (Macbeth)
• Performing for live stage productions – The Lion King, Fiddler on the Roof and The Boy From Oz.
John Farnham, Sir Cliff Richard, Kanye West, Kate Ceberano, Olivia Newton John, Stevie Wonder, Midnight Oil, the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), Barry White, Little River Band, Sarah Brightman, Tommy Emanuel, Eric Burden of ‘The Animals’, Renee Gayer, are some of the international artists that Play On has recoded and performed with.
Our musicians have recorded the sound tracks for feature films including Sliding Doors, Elizabeth, In a Savage Land, The Interview, The Land Beyond Time – IMAX and One Perfect Day. Last year Play On supported the Tsunami fundraising project – With a Little Help From My Friends, recording a CD and video clip for CARE Australia that featured well-known Australian pop artists.
The Quartet is engaged to play at many of Melbourne’s major annual events including the AAMI Classic at
Kooyong, The Australian Open and The Grand Prix. The Ensemble enjoys longstanding partnerships with several leading event management companies and venues in Melbourne.
