Alexander Nettelbeck is a musician whose playing encompasses classical jazz, blues, latin, and contemporary music in a unique and individual style. Born in Oakland, California he grew up between the U.S, Australia and France and began playing at an early age studying classical piano, progressing to play jazz, funk, and electronic music on the Melbourne scene. He received his Diploma of Arts in Music/Jazz Studies from The Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. As a band member, session keyboardist and programmer he has toured internationally and recorded with artists including Kate Ceberano, Phil Ceberano, Vika and Linda, Triple J Unearthed winner Vassy, Pete Hemsley’s Sons Of Invention and as musical director with Deni Hines. As a requested performer and musical director for weddings, corporate events, private functions and regular music programs, Alexander has performed frequently at prestigious venues including: The Windsor Hotel, The Grand Hyatt, The Observatory Hotel, The Basement, Star City Casino, The Park Hyatt, Four Seasons, Le Meridien, Sofitel Wentworth, Queen Victoria Building, Hayman Island Resort, The Marble Bar, Sydney Hilton, The Establishment, Opera Bar, Arthouse Hotel, Sydney, Sebel, Manly, Often working in collaboration in the areas of dance, fashion, film and theatre, his music can be found on labels in Australia, Japan, U.K and Germany, and is played on radio, film and television including Seven Network’s ‘All Saints’, the Aria Awards, In flight radio programs, and SBS and ABC.
As session keyboardist he has worked with film composer Don-Miller Robinson on full-length feature film’ Risk” starring Bryan Brown, and major advertising campaigns. Ambient recording project ’Telegraph Pole’ was selected from applicants from all over the world to be included in the Brighton Soundwave Festival U.K in 2007. Alexander also has more than fifteen years experience teaching all levels from beginners to advanced/professional. Teaching performance, audition and recording preparation for singers; professional & non-professional and mentoring musicians to extend training into contemporary styles. Now in 2008, Alexander performs frequently on the local circuit with Caravan latin jazz, with Dutch born singer/guitartist Adrian Mees and with Impromptu, a collective of some of the world’s best jazz, latin and soul musicians.
