> Feature Acts > A Tribute to Liza Minelli and Josephine BakerA Tribute to Liza Minelli and Josephine Baker
Beginning in silhouette dancers drape on chairs. Opening with soft sound and movement they move their limbs in smooth extensions. Moving away one by one from the group, they show off the length of their stride. Strength and flexibility evolves through languid movement as the dancers extend their bodies manipulating the chair beneath them. The beat picks up as does the movement, there is a dynamic intensity; a sense of anticipation, something is about to happen. Through a shimmering wall of feather fans, A Josephine Baker look a like appears with exotic looks and incredible moves. Bringing the performance to a close weaving their way off into the distance the audience being taken on a timeless journey into the past era of Cabaret, Kit Kat Clubs and Ritz Jazz. Commissioned for the opening night party of Cabaret, this 8-minute dance performance with 5 sophisticated sultry dancers is guaranteed to heat up any occasion. Costumed in slick black corsets & using Brentwood chairs this contemporary cabaret allegory culminates in a flurry of Ostrich Feather fans to reveal the exotic 1920's dancer/stripper Josephine Baker impersonator. Shimmering in white-jeweled bikini and feathers 'Josephine' performs a mock strip for the finale ending with a samba in her famous banana skirt! NB (Mock strips do not include nudity) |
