Theme of the Month - Run Away with the Circus!

The Circus Arts are fast becoming a much sought after element in entertaining corporate guests. Music Theatre Australia has an established connection with the highly skilled and talented artists that are currently presenting circus acts in this country. Aerial acts, acrobats, hand balancing solos, duos and trios, exquisite jugglers, knock-about routines, physical comedy and fully produced shows are just some of the styles of acts that can be offered through MTA.

From traditional forms to contemporary twists the circus arts are constantly surprising us with their skilful adaptations and interpretations of acts that have been around for hundreds of years.

With their particular ‘Aussie’ humour and eccentric take on the world, and their impeccably professional outlook and discipline, these artists offer an exhilarating opportunity for an unforgettable entertainment experience.

In ancient times when the Goddesses ruled the world, mankind would worship them and follow their every move.  The power of the Goddess was obvious to all.

But as time moved on, man forgot to look towards the strength and energy of these powerful women. Now, in the 21st century, the Goddesses have returned to us. Now they sing in powerful voices that tell us of love, celebration, excitement and fun.

They are The Goddesses of Rock, a tribute to the powerful women of rock.  Now, it’s your turn to experience... The Rock Goddess Show.

The smooth elegance of the 50/60’s girl groups, harmonized, choreographed and beautifully costumed. The country cowgirl Superstar of the 70’s to 90’s. Could we leave out the extravagance of ABBA, or the coolness of a Latin disco pop star!

MTA welcomes Bob Burton...

Bob has joined MTA as an Entertainment and Event Consultant bringing to the organisation his specialist knowledge of circus and physical theatre, as well as being able to produce and manage special events.

Q: ‘Bob, what is your background?’

A: I began as a street performer, spending five years in Europe performing, studying and travelling. After returning to Australia I set up a small performing company playing in schools and at festivals until I took up the position of program coordinator at the Melbourne Fringe Festival for two years. In 1991 I founded the agency Primate Productions, specialising in representing circus and street theatre artists. Over the next eight years this business grew and flourished providing acts around Australia and the world. My finest hour was taking the Flying Fruit Fly Circus to New York on Broadway in 1999.

Q: ‘Now that you are at MTA, what are you developing that is new for the market?’

A: Acts being developed by artists in Australia are amongst the most innovative in the world. They are taking influence from many different areas and transforming well-honed skills into completely new realms. I am thrilled at being able to work with artists on the development and marketing of these acts as it keeps my creative mind active, as well as creating many opportunities for the next generation of performing artists.

We like to offer the most professional entertainment service to meet our clients’ needs, as well as collaborating closely with artists to ensure they reach their own stringent and demanding levels of excellence.
